Marcello Serpa, one of the most influential advertisers in Brazil, is the new advisor for the Anacouto agency. Internationally recognized, the creative director led AlmapBBDO for more than two decades, which is a distinction to be considered as a significant strategic reinforcement for the agency.
The advisory board chair, previously occupied by Diego Barreto, who recently took over as CEO of iFood, will continue with the mission of bringing an external vision focused on the business’ creativity and innovation.
“His agnostic and independent vision, combined with his vast experience in creative innovation connected to business, will contribute to the sustainable growth of the agency’s clients. We are excited to welcome Marcello Serpa as our new advisor,” celebrates Ana Couto, CEO of the agency.
Born in São Paulo in 1963, Marcello began his international career in Germany in 1983, where he studied graphic arts and began working as an art director at leading agencies. Upon returning to Brazil, he consolidated his career at renowned agencies such as DPZ Rio, DPZ São Paulo and DM9DDB. In 1993, he joined AlmapBBDO, where he worked as a partner and general creative director alongside José Luiz Madeira until 2016.
Throughout his career, Serpa has been the leader behind notable achievements at AlmapBBDO, including the first Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in print media for Brazil. He also stood out as the youngest advertising professional to receive the prestigious Lion of St. Mark in 2016 and was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Clio Awards in 2008. With an impressive total of 160 Lions under his belt, the advisor is internationally recognized for his unique ability to unite creativity and business.
Serpa left AlmapBBDO in 2015, but continues to share his knowledge in the advertising field, whether working with agencies or mentoring new professionals. His new position at Anacouto marks an important chapter for the agency and strengthens the branding area in Brazil.
“I am sure that I will be able to contribute a lot in this new role, positioning the agency at an even more special level than it already is,” predicts Serpa.
The advisory board group is formed by executives Maria Silvia Marques Bastos, Fernando Chacon and André Shinohara.
