The initiative is sponsored by Powerade and seeks to strengthen the relationship between the public and the athletes and create interactive experiences
Meta and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) have launched a WhatsApp chatbot developed for the competition period. Created by Smarters, the channel aims to strengthen the relationship between the public and the athletes and create interactive experiences. The initiative is sponsored by Powerade.
“We are excited to see how this technology will enrich the experience for participants and fans, bringing a new level of engagement and connection to the event,” says Ted Ketterer, head of marketing at Coca-Cola Brazil.
The COB mascot, Ginga, is the one who talks to fans, taking them on a journey around the Olympic Games and Brazil’s participation. The chatbot allows fans to access the games’ schedule, the ranking of Brazilian athletes, the medal table, among other information.
“We developed a communication platform to act as a second screen for sports fans. While people watch the games, they can also follow the latest information in the palm of their hand via WhatsApp,” says Guilherme Horn, head of WhatsApp for strategic markets.
Fans will also receive audio and video notifications, a sticker pack, a personalized card and audio messages sent by the stars of the Brazilian delegation, as well as an exclusive quiz.
The interactive conversation can be started via the link or by calling +55 (11) 3506-8253.
