The piece celebrates religions of African origin and highlights the fight against racial intolerance in sport.
The Observatory of Racial Discrimination in Football launched its new official game shirt for the 2024 season, at the headquarters of the Rio Grande do Sul Football Federation. The awareness-raising shirt on the issue is signed by There was Sportpartner of the entity for the second season.
Check out the new model below:
The Observatory’s shirt is a tribute to religions of African origin. The idea came about after the results of the “Survey of Diversity in Brazilian Football”, which was released last year and showed that religious prejudice is still closely linked to racial discrimination.
“Football shirts are a true passion for football fans and for us at the Observatory, they are very symbolic. This year, we were able to talk about such an important topic through them: respect for diversity and religious intolerance,” says Marcelo Carvalho, executive director of the Observatory of Racial Discrimination in Football.
The shirt features Dry Ray fabric technology, present in models developed by Volt Sport for professional teams, with a composition made from 100% polyester and protection against solar rays and thermal properties.
“For Volt Sport, this is a very important project. Being able to sign this Observatory shirt is a privilege, as it is an entity that we respect and believe in the importance of its work in the debate and reflection on the racial agenda in sport”, highlights Fernando Kleimann, managing partner of Volt.
The Observatory of Racial Discrimination in Football is a project that uses football as an instrument of social inclusion and the fight against violence and discrimination. By monitoring positive examples and real cases of racism, the organization is able to shed light on the issue and guide the debate in society, provoking changes to help eradicate prejudice from the sport.
The new mantle will be on sale at official channel of the Observatory. The cloaks will be sold for R$159.90.
