BR Media’s analysis of the first week of competitions shows that football was the sport with the highest number of mentions
BR Media published an analysis of the first week of the Olympics and found that the most relevant name during the period was Marta Silva, with more than 14 thousand mentions. Rebeca Andrade was the second most mentioned person on social media, garnering more than 11 thousand mentions in the digital environment, and skateboarder Rayssa Leal came in third place with more than eight thousand mentions in posts.
Most of the mentions on social media address the opening, infrastructure, criticism of the games, possible favoritism and some controversial refereeing. Regarding sentimentalization, 45% are negative, with mentions mainly about the quality of the water in the disputes on the Seine River. Around 31% of the mentions are positive, praising the celebrations for the Brazilian competitors.
Among the most engaged on Instagram, the Alfinetei profile topped the list with around 694 thousand likes on a post with Laís Souza about Brazil’s victory. Coach Geronimo Theml came in second place with comments about weightlifting, in a post with more than 515 thousand likes. Third place went to Hugo Gloss’ post with Daiane from Santos celebrating Rebeca Andrade’s first victory, reaching more than 448 thousand profiles.
In the analysis of X, formerly Twitter, the highest engagement was for “Beyoncé’s Salto Cunty”, about artistic gymnastics, which generated 90 thousand likes, seven thousand reposts and one thousand comments. Next, “Samengo” mentioned the opening and received 84 thousand likes, eight thousand reposts and 577 comments. Closing the list, the page “Rô” reached 77 thousand likes, 14.5 thousand reposts and 1,684 comments about the games. Regarding commentators, Pedro Scooby, Casimiro and Fred are the biggest highlights on the platform.
According to the analysis, football is the sport with the greatest recognition, with more than 120 thousand mentions since the beginning of the games, followed by boxing, karate, fencing and judo, and volleyball, tied with more than 30 thousand. Gymnastics and skateboarding reached 20 thousand mentions, with greater relevance on the X network.
