Cazé TV’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be remembered as an important moment in the history of sporting event broadcasts in Brazil. However, not everything was perfect. Many criticized some events that occurred during the broadcast, which was the result of a partnership between Livemode and streamer Casimiro Miguel.
Below we list some points that the Adnews team considers to be five mistakes and five successes of the platform.
1. Campaign to increase the visibility of athletes:
Cazé TV stood out by promoting a digital campaign, encouraging viewers to follow the profiles of Brazilian athletes and Team Brazil on social media. This initiative significantly boosted the athletes’ online presence, creating new sponsorship opportunities and increased visibility. Rebeca Andrade, for example, gained prominence on Instagram, surpassing even Simone Biles in follower growth.
I’m shocked by this effort that Casimiro made to follow Juju pic.twitter.com/XLYZeDqKkx

2. Milton Cunha:
The choice of Milton Cunha as commentator was a positive point. Known for his charisma and technical knowledge of Carnival, Cunha brought a new dimension to the coverage, with colorful and personality-filled analyses that enriched the broadcast and kept the audience engaged.
IT’S THE MIXTURE WE LIKE! 👏🫶 Milton Cunha defined the feeling of #OlympicsOnCazéTV. HAPPINESS IS THE PRIORITY! And it’s for EVERYONE! 🙌 #Paris2024 #OlympicGames pic.twitter.com/2AQPPfFjYu

3. Engagement with the public:
Cazé TV was right to adopt a relaxed and interactive language, captivating especially the young audience. The active participation of viewers through live chats and the presence of popular figures among young people ensured significant engagement, making the coverage more dynamic and accessible.
4. More human reporters:
Some people didn’t like it, but bringing in names like Pedro Scooby and other reporters who couldn’t hide their emotions seems to have worked out really well. And no wonder, Casimiro himself isn’t one to hold back his emotions:

5. Humanized and emotional narratives:
The stripped-down approach created a deeper emotional connection with the audience. Where else would an interaction like this between the reporter and Piu be possible on?
THIS GUY HAS ENERGY WAY UP! 🇧🇷👏 This was Piu’s message for FRIDAY! Whoever got it, got it! This review between the two of them is pure juice #OlympicsOnCazéTV 🤣🤣🤣#OlympicGames #Athletics #Paris2024 #Adidas pic.twitter.com/LBEJ4Q36Gk

Errors:
1. Technical issues:
Since the start of coverage, Cazé TV has faced several technical problems, including signal drops and audio and video failures. During an important swimming event, for example, the broadcast was interrupted, frustrating many viewers.
2. Limited coverage of some sports:
Cazé TV’s coverage has been criticized for focusing too much on popular sports such as soccer and volleyball, while lesser-known sports such as weightlifting have received little attention. This has left many fans of these sports feeling helpless, without the comprehensive coverage they had hoped for.
3. Differentiated treatment for gaffes:
The informality of the broadcast on Cazé TV caused embarrassing situations, such as the lack of balance in the editorial line when dealing with internet attacks. While the “low-income blogger” was attacked without defense, another influencer received ample defense in a similar situation.
“We don’t want to gossip with anyone!”
In an editorial, CazéTV rejects controversy with Low-Income Blogger and washes its hands: informs that Zona Olímpica is a “joke program” but “no one is joking”. 👇 pic.twitter.com/67T0yinT1b

4. João Kléber Effect:
Cazé TV interrupted the skateboarding and other sports awards to show advertising for betting houses, which was seen as a discredit to the athletes involved.
that’s what it was @CazeTVOfficial showed when a Brazilian athlete was honored in the final of an Olympic sport: bet advertisement. But it’s good that 95% of people watched it on open TV that showed everything.

5. Interaction. But only by paying:
The CazéTV chat was a show in itself. But it was a show exclusively for members. Interaction during broadcasts was limited to those who paid to become members of the channel.
