The month of March begins with a very important date socially: International Women’s Day. Tomorrow, on the 8th, the world gathers to celebrate the importance of women and with that, several campaigns are launched together in celebration. To remember some that have been released over the last few years, we’ve separated some of the most striking and most thought about female empowerment.
Check out the best campaigns to remember on International Women’s Day:
LinkedIn – #WeCanDoIt
LinkedIn, in 2019, did not leave last year’s International Women’s Day without delivering one of the best campaigns related to the topic. Combining female independence with the unequal relationship of women in the labor market, the video brings together stories from different women around the world to tell their stories.
Chevrolet Tracker and female empowerment
Chevrolet innovated in a landmark campaign that promotes female empowerment. In publicizing one of its models, the Tracker, the car brand launched the hashtag #ADonaSouEu and gave a show of representation in this action that was among the most commented cases on social networks.
Burger King and the gender pay gap
In yet another campaign that brings out the numbers involving the difference between genders in the job market, Burger King brought its customers data in a creative way. When ordering food through delivery, consumers received a delivery time which is actually the estimated time for women and men to achieve equity in the market.
The time estimate of 267 years used in the campaign was generated by theGlobal Gender Gap Report2021. Also according to data released by the IBGE in 2019, women received up to 23% less than men that year. Brazil even slipped back in the 2021 gender equality ranking made by the World Economic Forum.
Nike – Dream Crazier
Following conversations around its Just Do It campaign starring Colin Kaepernick in 2019, Nike released an equally impressive video titled “Dream Crazier”. Narrated by Serena Williams, the video featured footage of female athletes, including Caster Semenya and Kathrine Switzer, who have achieved success despite facing criticism and adversity.
LG and the Ms Project. Mozart
In another of the creative campaigns that marked the year 2021, LG provided a very different project: remembering Maria Anna Mozart, sister of the musician who, because of the time in which she lived, was unable to achieve the same success. The campaign makes an unprecedented composition and still promotes one of the brand’s television models.
