The International section also saw significant growth with coverage of the attack on Donald Trump and the elections in Venezuela
CNN Brasil announced that the website registered records for the Sports section, both in terms of page views and unique users, during the Paris Olympics.
From the start of the sports competitions on July 24th until the end of the Games on August 11th, the website reached 32 million page views, reaching 12 million unique users. This volume represents a positive variation of 539% in page views and a tripling of unique users, compared to the same period last year. On social media, #PodioCNN also stood out, reaching 12 million people organically, in addition to increasing its engagement fivefold, achieving a 25% growth in total followers.
Considering the month of July, in relation to June, the volume of page views doubled, reaching 22.4 million, and there was a growth of 71% in unique users over the same period, reaching approximately 10 million unique users.
During the month of July, the International section also registered significant growth, with a 92% increase in page views compared to June, reaching 21.6 million, in addition to a 74% increase in unique users compared to the same month, with 7.3 million unique users. The peaks in audience were seen after the assassination attempt on the former president of the United States and candidate in this year’s election, Donald Trump. Another highlight of the section was the subject of the elections in Venezuela.
According to CNN, July was also the second best month in history in terms of page views for the site, with 142 million page views, behind only May 2024, when there was coverage of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
