Instagram is this week rolling out a new range of text-based creative tools, including new fonts and effects, for users to apply to Stories, Reels and photo carousels.
The update brings six new custom fonts. In addition to the new fonts, users will have more options for animating text in Stories and Reels, and will be able to add text and image overlays to the default photo carousels. These features have a Canva-like feel, turning every user into an amateur graphic designer and making Instagram a complete platform for influencers.
Starting today, Instagram users can choose from an expanded library of fonts to suit a wider range of styles and needs. New custom fonts include:
- Signature: a semi-script cursive;
- Editor: a retro font inspired by word processors from the 80s and 90s;
- Bubble: with a more hand-drawn appearance;
- Squeeze: a compressed font, ideal for meme captions;
- Poster: a classic serif;
- Deco: inspired by the Art Deco aesthetic, as the name suggests.
