When it was released in 2016, Stories from Instagram, it didn’t have all the current functionality and people didn’t imagine the enormous reach it would have in the coming years.
Today it is possible to customize the content posted with songs, mentions to other accounts, stickers, links, among others.
But Instagram is always innovating and implementing new features to Stories, one of the most recent being the possibility of creating videos up to 60 seconds long.
The functionality began to be made available in November to some users of the social network, in order to allow people to create and view content with less interruptions.
Also, with bigger videos, Instagram can compete with other competing networks like TikTok, which allows recordings of up to 3 minutes. This recent change represents the path that the platform is taking to become more and more focused on videos.
According to a survey conducted by Kantar IBOPE Media, video consumption in Brazil is above the world average, with 80% of Brazilians watching free online videos frequently, while consumption in other countries is around 65% of the population. The video culture has grown on a large scale and the power of this tool has dominated the world of communication.
