X to be suspended in Brazil after company fails to comply with subpoena

Minister Alexandre de Moraes notifies Anatel to block the social network

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the suspension of the activities of the social network X, formerly Twitter, in Brazil. The company did not respond to the minister’s summons to appoint a representative in the country within 24 hours.

The notification was made on Friday afternoon (30) to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), which must take steps to block access by computers in Brazil to the social network’s addresses.

Companies like Apple and Google will have five days to remove the X app from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
