As part of the celebrations for Mustang’s 60th anniversary, Ford announced an unprecedented partnership with Gerando Falcões, an NGO that works to combat poverty in Brazil’s favelas. The organization received a unique Mustang GT Performance, customized by artist Alan Mosca, which will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the organization’s projects. The virtual auction begins today and runs through October 14, as part of the traditional “Favela Gala” event.
The announcement was made by Martín Galdeano, president of Ford South America, and Edu Lyra, CEO of Gerando Falcões, at an event at Ford headquarters in São Paulo. In addition to being the first seventh-generation Mustang to arrive in Brazil and opening the historic parade of more than 400 Mustangs at the Interlagos Race Track, it is the only model in the Orvalho silver color in the country and has an exclusive paint job created by automotive designer Alan Mosca.
“In addition to celebrating such a special year with Ford and Mustang brand enthusiasts, we wanted to carry out an action that had a social purpose, and we chose Gerando Falcões because both organizations are aligned in their purpose of generating a positive impact to help build a better world,” says Martín Galdeano. “Giving back to the communities where we operate and helping to promote social well-being and community development is one of the pillars of Ford’s corporate mission.”
Poverty reduction
Gerando Falcões is a social development ecosystem that works to overcome poverty and supports and accelerates the work of other NGOs and social leaders in favelas throughout Brazil. The organization’s mission is to reduce poverty through transformative projects capable of generating long-term results.
“We thank Ford for this donation, which will help not only to leverage our actions, but also to give more visibility to the work we develop in creating scalable and high-impact social programs and technologies in the favelas,” says Edu Lyra, CEO and founder of Gerando Falcões.
Gerando Falcões’ actions include Falcons University, an educational front for the development of social leaders, the Favela 3D program, focused on improving the quality of life of residents, Decolagem, which enables the mapping of individual goals and dreams to overcome poverty, and ASMARA, an initiative aimed at generating extra income and empowering women in the communities.
Unique in the world
The Mustang GT Performance in Orvalho Silver has an exclusive paint job to commemorate the sports car’s 60th anniversary, created by designer Alan Mosca, son of the legendary Sid Mosca and current head of Sid Special Paint, a company specializing in customizing vehicles and helmets. The vehicle’s customization was inspired by the Mustang’s 60th anniversary logo and celebrates the icon’s sportiness and spirit of freedom.
“My relationship with Mustang goes back decades and I couldn’t help but be moved by being chosen to immortalize the 60 years of this sporting icon,” says Alan.
The number 60 on the doors is a reference to traditional racing cars. The Daytona stripe that runs across the entire body, from the hood to the rear, is a characteristic symbol of American muscle cars. The iconic Mustang horse is another element highlighted in the design, which also features custom seats developed by the Ford Design team in partnership with the companies Magna and Sansuy.
The vehicle will be on display to the public on September 10, 11 and 12 at Ford’s headquarters in Vila Olímpia, São Paulo, before touring Ford dealerships in the city.
Virtual auction
The Mustang GT Performance virtual auction opens this Friday, September 6, and runs until October 14, 2024. To participate, interested parties must purchase a ticket through the website Link. Tickets cost R$200 and give access to the Kwara website, where bids will be made. The amount raised from the tickets will also be donated to projects developed by Gerando Falcões.
The customized Mustang will be the most valuable item and will also be on display at the Favela Gala São Paulo, a traditional charity event held by Gerando Falcões on October 28 at the Hotel Unique. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the NGO’s activities, which benefit thousands of people throughout Brazil.
