On World Suicide Prevention Day (10/9), the NGO CVV (Center for the Valorization of Life) launched its first mini-doc, which is raising awareness among thousands of people and has been shared by celebrities such as Ivete Sangalo, Fábio Porchat, Kéfera, PodPah and Defante on social media.
With real people and real questions, the video “How much time is left?” explores how we care for each other in times full of connection but with a lack of attention. The question that crowns the experiment is fictitious, but it brings reflection, and the reactions in the experiment are moving and touched the netizens. Watch below:
The action is the result of a collective of advertising professionals and, for Edu Cabral, one of the creators of the initiative and who has already worked at WMcCann, addressing the issue is helping to generate visibility for something that is still taboo: “This is my sixth year creating and producing for the NGO some action that impacts and draws attention to the issue, we need to break the paradigm about mental health and suicide prevention, we need to make people look at this”, he explains.
Despite the engagement, one of the creators of the action adds that the main metric is not views: “If with this content that generated such important reflections we help save a life, the success is already absolute!”, says Thiago Ito.
For Bruno Simões, who has been part of the volunteer group for years, the data is the most important: “The choice of 40 is not random, it is due to the WHO statistic that every 40 seconds a person dies by suicide in the world, dressing this in a creative and impactful way was our idea”.
In the world, a person commits suicide every 40 seconds. In Brazil, a person takes their own life every 45 minutes. Every year, CVV receives more than 4 million calls from people in emotional vulnerability.
