Globo is ready to broadcast Rock in Rio, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, with broad, multiplatform coverage. From September 13 to 22, the broadcaster and its affiliates — TV Globo, Multishow, Canal Bis and Globoplay — will bring the festival to the public with a diverse lineup.
There will be over 100 shows broadcast over the seven days of the event, with an average of 20 hours of music per day. The broadcast begins on Multishow at 3:15 p.m. with shows from the Mundo and Sunset stages. On Canal Bis, starting at 6:45 p.m., performances by Espaço Favela and New Dance Order will be shown. On Globoplay, subscribers to the +canais version will be able to watch the shows in 4K.
Marcos Mion and Kenya Sade will be the hosts on TV Globo, with live entries from Cidade do Rock, highlighting the main moments of the festival after “Estrela da Casa” and “Altas Horas” on Saturdays. In addition, Globo’s journalism team, with Milton Cunha and Parceiros da Comunidade RJ, will bring special reports to local news programs.
The coverage will feature a team of 12 presenters, including names such as Guilherme Guedes, Didi Wagner and Chinaina, as well as special guests who have participated in previous editions of the festival.
Exclusive coverage and content in digital
Globo’s coverage of Rock in Rio will also feature exclusive content and a strong presence on social media. Fernanda Bande, former BBB and host of “Na Cama Com Pitanda” on Multishow, will be in charge of the talk show “De Lado Com a Loba”, live from Glass Estúdio at the Globoplay stand. The program will have famous guests and will be broadcast daily at 10:30 pm on Globoplay and on Multishow’s YouTube channel, with excerpts available on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Threads.
Beatriz Reis, also a former BBB contestant, will join the team, acting as a hostess on Globoplay’s social media channels. Multishow, in turn, will bring the best moments of the shows, as well as influencers such as Diego Martins, Eu Vitty, Pequena Lo, Phellyx and Theodoro, who will share behind the scenes and their experiences at the festival.
At gshow, Yasmin Brunet and Diego Martins will cover the VIP area, bringing information about the celebrities present and the main trends of the event. On the website, the public will be able to follow content about music, behavior, fashion and beauty.
Technology and Resources
The largest coverage of all time will feature cutting-edge technology, ensuring the best experience for the public watching Rock in Rio wherever they want. There will be more than 40 cameras covering what happens on the festival’s four stages. The new features of this edition include the use of 4K HDR technology, which in addition to high-definition images, also guarantees all the details of the performances with a significant improvement in color quality; in addition to the use of Spidercam – a camera that hangs from cables and winches that move the camera cart and create a different perspective, as if the viewer were flying over the field – for shots of the audience and the stage. Another new feature is the insertion of virtual elements using images created by moving drones, for greater dynamism and immersion in the broadcast.
“Rock in Rio is our World Cup! It’s the moment when we bring together the best professionals and all the available technology resources to deliver the biggest and best coverage of the festival, always thinking about how to transport the experience of those in the City of Rock to those at home. This year we have a new way of capturing the shows: the spidercam, widely used in arenas and sporting events, which will allow us to find different angles than we had in previous editions,” explains Pedro Secchin, general director of the broadcast.
ESG Agenda
Throughout the seven days of the festival, Globo’s performance will be guided by the Green Productions Guide, a document from the company that indicates sustainable actions in areas such as production, technology, set design, art, characterization and costumes. In the 2024 edition of ‘Rock in Rio’, one of the highlights will be the optimization of the use of power generators, which, on the Sunset and NDO stages, will remain turned off throughout the festival, being turned on only in case of a power outage. The measure, also adopted in the 2022 edition, reduces the consumption of diesel oil during the event.
And for yet another year, Globo is a candidate for the Sustainable Attitude Award, created by the organizers of the world’s largest music and entertainment festival to recognize and reward sustainable attitudes adopted within the City of Rock. The award aims to promote good environmental, social and economic practices that contribute to sustainable development.
The multiplatform broadcast of Rock in Rio on Globo is produced by Maria Garcia, with executive production by Valesca Campos, general direction by Pedro Secchin and genre direction by Raoni Carneiro.
Rock in Rio Broadcast: The festival will be broadcast on the 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd starting at 3:15 pm, on Globoplay and on the Multishow and Bis channels. TV Globo will show flashes during the program and highlights of the shows every day, always after Estrela da Casa, and on Saturdays, after Altas Horas. In addition to a special edition, on the 29th.
