ABDC has more than 140 professionals from different states in Brazil
The Brazilian Association of Directors and Stage Directors (ABDC) is being officially launched on the market.
With less than a year of operation, ABDC already has more than 140 professionals from different states, at different stages of their careers and who work in the country’s main production companies.
The Association is already debating and organizing some causes through four working committees, namely the “Treatment Committee”, “Good Practices Committee”, “Artificial Intelligence Committee” and “Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Policies Committee”.
ABDC’s visual identity was created by Studio Cama, led by visual artist Felipe Cama. The logo, inspired by a clapperboard, was designed to represent the initials ABDC.
The creation of ABDC took place on November 8, 2023, in an assembly that brought together 97 professionals working in the production market, but the idea of creating an association came before that, in 2021, when an initial working committee began a series of meetings to study and debate formats that culminated in the development of a solid statute and the drafting of a code of ethics that reflected the main desired values.
Membership grew and became more organized, until the assembly took place, on the same day of its foundation, electing its first board of directors, composed of Georgia Guerra-Peixe (Joca), Hanna Batista and Carlão Busato as president; Guilherme Petry and Pedro Tejada as financial director; Lu Villaça and João Papa as director of associates; and the duo 2Vilão (Mary Abrantes and Peri) and Caio Rubini as director of communications.
“It was the realization of an old project that seemed impossible. During the meeting, we looked around and saw countless professionals that we admire. But there we were just colleagues with a common purpose,” said the board of associates.
Membership registrations are open to anyone interested in participating. Access is via the website – www.abdc.site – where the documentation required by the statute for interested professionals to join is available. Among the monthly fees, there are two solidarity options for people who, at the moment, cannot afford to pay in full.
