With the slogan “Beauty that sustains the world”, Casa AMAKOS da Amazônia, located at Rua dos Pinheiros, 411, in São Paulo, opens its doors with an innovative proposal. The startup, which develops cosmetics and perfumes based on green science and Amazonian biodiversity, now has a physical space of 80m², in a historic building in the process of being listed. The place offers a conceptual experience of beauty and well-being, aligned with social, sustainable, scientific and contemporary practices.
“Our DNA is to highlight beauty without compromising our greatest asset: nature! Creating this space was a request from clients and partners, who asked about having a place with the AMAKOS atmosphere, this vision of the Amazon that respects ancestral practices and traditional knowledge, but is aligned with science and culture,” highlights Soon Hee Han, CEO and CRDO of AMAKOS da Amazônia. The project, which took eight months to be drafted, is the result of intensive research.
Although the laboratory and factory are in Manaus (AM), the startup chose São Paulo to open its first physical store. “There is a growing demand for disruptive consumer solutions, and AMAKOS da Amazônia offers transparency and fair trade with the communities that preserve the forest,” explains Yuri Han, co-founder and CRO and CMO of the company, highlighting that the opening in September coincides with the brand’s two-year anniversary.
Architecture and well-being
The façade of Casa AMAKOS is adorned with a Poeta Jasmine flower, which welcomes visitors. Upon entering the space, guests are immersed in an environment full of Amazonian plants, such as ferns, Guaimbé and Polly, integrated into the concept of “well-being architecture”, which harmonizes natural light and directional lighting to create a relaxing environment.
Review Lounge
In the lounge, specialized consultants analyze customers’ skin and suggest cosmetics from the clean beauty line, formulated with botanical active ingredients from the Amazon. Currently, the brand offers 12 products divided between the Copaíba Hydra, Cacay Vital, Sangue de Dragão Antioxi and Nano Açaí + Vit C 10% lines.
Immersive experience
The Amazon Room offers a unique experience with lounge chairs and the “Forest Bath”, an air freshener patented by AMAKOS. “Those who spend days in the forest inhale phytoncides, which balance the emotional response and have an antioxidant effect”, explains Soon Hee Han, highlighting that the blend of essential oils used in the air freshener is 100% natural and comes from cooperatives in the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve.
Partnerships and curation
Casa AMAKOS also offers a curation of biojewels created by award-winning designers from Manaus, such as Rita Prossi and Yanciã, as well as a gourmet space with Warabu agroforestry chocolates, made with Amazonian cocoa. According to Yuri Han, the house’s schedule will include activities such as yoga, meditation and lectures, which will be promoted on the brand’s social networks.
ESG Commitment
Founded on ESG principles, AMAKOS da Amazônia uses agroforestry and extractive raw materials from the Amazon, following strict international sustainability standards. With PETA Cruelty Free & Vegan, Eureciclo and Halal certifications, the brand is also in the process of obtaining the Cosmos/Ecocert seal for its cosmetics line.
