Change the Ref action, ‘The Final Exam’ was created by Energy BBDO Chicago in partnership with Druid Creative Gaming
Change the Ref, an activist group that uses art to promote gun control and public safety in the United States, and Energy BBDO Chicago have released a survival game titled ‘The Final Exam’.
The game challenges gamers to survive a shooting inside a school.
The idea is to educate gamers about the harsh reality of mass shootings in the United States, enabling them to promote real changes against this problem and defend bills that increase gun control in the country.
The initiative was developed in partnership with companies specializing in games Webcore Games, Druid Creative Gaming and Flutu Music. The idea was to gamify the campaign on the subject to reach players, as well as parents, students aged 18 to 22 and gun control and regulation activists.
In the game, gamers must discover how to navigate and escape the terrifying reality of a school shooting. The game was designed based on real data obtained from past incidents.
From the escape time to the exercises, sounds, alarms, messages on the walls and objects left behind, every detail has been faithfully recreated to immerse players in this tragic reality. Throughout the map, players will find data hidden in textbooks, whiteboards, and maps, providing factual information about school shootings in the US.
