MercadoLibre confirmed having suffered cyberattacks after detecting unauthorized access to part of the source code. As a result, data such as name, e-mail and telephone number of approximately 300 thousand active users were accessed.
The company also informed that there is no evidence that Mercado Livre’s infrastructure systems have been compromised or that user passwords, account balances, investments, financial or payment card information have been obtained. “There was, therefore, no access to user accounts”, he guaranteed.
Last month, Americanas and Submarino were down for days. The initial suspicion was of a hacker attack, but the company ruled it out, in addition to denying any information leak.

Although data such as name, email and phone number of approximately 300,000 users (out of almost 140 million unique active users) were accessed, we found no evidence that our infrastructure systems were compromised or that user passwords were obtained, account balances, investments, financial or payment card information.
