Measure valid from this Monday (30th); deadline for regulating bets ends Tuesday (1st)
Google will block advertisements for bets that are not registered with the Ministry of Finance from this Monday (30). THE platform updated the advertising policy for gambling in Brazil.
With the change, Google adapted to the Ministry of Finance ordinance that will suspend, from tomorrow (1st), the operation of bets that have not yet requested authorization to operate in the country.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the suspension of bets that did not request authorization will serve as a temporary instrument to separate serious companies from those that act criminally.
Betting companies have been in the spotlight in recent days, following the release of a report from the Central Bank (BC), which showed that Brazilians spent around R$20 billion per month on online betting, between January and August 2024.
According to the institution, approximately 24 million individuals made at least one transfer via Pix to online betting companies.
This Monday (30), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said that up to 600 bets will be banned in the coming days for presenting irregularities in relation to the legislation approved by the National Congress.
