Marvel Brasil released the exclusive single “O Poder É Nosso”, available on the main digital platforms. The initiative aims to value the work of black artists and increase their visibility.
In partnership with KondZilla, the track is performed by Jovem MK, MC Luanna and Malcolm VL, with composition by Coruja BC1 and musical production by DJ MaxnosBeatZ. The single connects black Marvel heroes to the reality of black youth in Brazil.
The music video, directed by Kaique Alves, is available on KondZilla’s YouTube channel. Recorded in Heliópolis and in the center of São Paulo, the clip portrays young black people in moments of conquest, symbolizing the strength of heroes without a cape.
On Marvel Brasil’s YouTube, mini-documentaries with behind-the-scenes details of the production and interviews with the artists are already live.
Just like the first edition of “Marvel – The Power Is Ours” – held in 2022 with five black visual artists who had their works transformed into style guides, originating exclusive licensed clothing, footwear and accessories – this year’s project will also extend for retail through exclusive licensed collections, launched by brands such as Converse, C&A, Condor, Kenner, among others. The Converse and C&A pieces are now available in the main physical and digital stores, while the Kenner collection will be launched in November 2024.
In addition, Disney will also continue to support Feira Preta through the project. During the months of October and November, the Feira Preta Institute will teach Afrolab, a training course that will be offered in person to 30 young black people with a focus on audiovisual art and online, serving a total of 60 participants.
Afrolab’s in-person classes will be held at the Museu das Favelas, an institution of the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry of the State of São Paulo that seeks to highlight the art and memories of the country’s favelas. Some pieces produced by students during the course will be part of the “Marvel – The Power Is Ours” project exhibition, which will open on November 26th at the Museum, and will be open to the public.
This initiative with Instituto Feira Preta is part of Disney Future Storytellers, a Disney proposal that offers inspiration and training for young people who will be future professionals in the creative industry. The program promotes access to opportunities for underrepresented communities, helping to form a representative and respectful workforce.
