Red Bull Classics will bring back classic maps from multiple Counter-Strike editions for a CS2 championship, offering fans a nostalgic opportunity. The tournament, created by Gaules and Red Bull, will have an unprecedented format and will take place at CCXP, in São Paulo, on December 5th. The grand final will feature matches between gaming and entertainment stars, in an event that promises to attract the attention of FPS enthusiasts in Brazil.
The competition, which will be broadcast by Gaules, will feature teams made up of great talents, such as professional player Gabs, as well as FURIA and Tribo. Four players will be invited, while the fifth member of each team will be selected through open qualifiers, organized by Gamers Club. Registration begins this Tuesday (1) on the official website.
To participate, players must be over 18 years old, resident in Brazil, and have active accounts on CS2 and Gamers Club. The online qualifiers will take place on October 19th and 26th. The winners will move on to a playoff in a different format, with 1×5 matches, in which players will only use AWP. The four best will compete in the main event at CCXP, alongside prominent figures from the community.
“Participating in the Red Bull Classics is very special for me, because it is not just about a tournament, but about reliving moments that marked the lives of many people, including mine. These maps are part of Counter-Strike’s history and, in a way, ours too. It’s very exciting to be able to provide this experience for the community, especially for those who grew up playing and dreaming of being on a stage like CCXP. It will be a unique experience, full of nostalgia and emotion, both for players and the public”, says Gaules.
“I’m sure it will be an unforgettable opportunity for these players to compete on nostalgic maps that were part of the scene’s history”, says Gabs, multi-champion player for FURIA and confirmed at the event. “It will be etched in the memory of anyone who wants to consolidate a professional career or simply wants to have the thrill of playing on a stage, with the noise of the audience screaming. Having the classic maps revived is a gift to the community, especially those, like me, who have been playing for a long time and have an emotional connection to many old maps. It’s a great opportunity to relive CS memories and stories”, he says.
The tournament also aims to impact the Brazilian Counter-Strike community, which will be able to revisit maps such as de_train, de_cache, de_aztec, de_dust and de_cobblestone, now remastered in CS2. The event has the official partnership of Agon By AOC and FURIA ESPORTS.
