On the day of the 2024 Annular Solar Eclipse, Corona, a beer made with 100% natural ingredients, carried out an impactful action. The brand captured the phenomenon with an iconic image, where the sun simulates a slice of lemon, highlighting the ideal ritual for drinking the drink. Named in Brazil as “Para Todo o Pôr do Sol” (“Every Slice of Sun”), the initiative reinforces that, with or without an eclipse, Corona is the perfect choice for special moments in nature.
As part of a global campaign, invited photographers recorded the eclipse in strategic locations in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. These points were selected after detailed research to ensure the best fit. The weather conditions and elevation of the sun were analyzed so that half of it aligned precisely with the Corona bottle.
Photographers had about five minutes to capture the image. “I’ve photographed eclipses before, but this was my first time leading a team across five different regions. We had to study local conditions a lot, as the eclipse lasts, on average, 10 minutes, and we only needed half the sun to create the lemon effect”, explained Marcelo Maragni, a Brazilian photographer specializing in nature.
The action took place at a unique time, considering that the next Annular Solar Eclipse will only occur on February 17, 2026. Corona took advantage of the event to reaffirm its connection with nature.
“Corona shows once again that nature has always been in its DNA. Using the sun as a slice of lemon proves the success of this combination”, says Gabriela Gallo, marketing director at Corona in Brazil.
Created by agency DAVID Miami, the campaign was shared on social media and in out-of-home (OOH) media pieces. The brand, which has been promoting striking images to celebrate good times outdoors, also went viral at the beginning of the year with the photo of Gabriel Medina at the Olympic Games, highlighting that golden moments can arise unexpectedly, always with a Corona in hand .
