In a video produced by Disney and shared on the singer’s social networks, Iza confirms that she will return to voice the character Nala, a role that inspired her daughter’s name. More than eight months pregnant, the video shows the singer in a moment full of tenderness, while talking to her baby still in her belly. During the recording, a painting inspired by the film is made on her skin, symbolizing maternal love and the passing of an extraordinary legacy.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” features Rafiki telling the legend of Mufasa to the young lioness Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala. The film tells Mufasa’s story in flashbacks, showing him as an orphaned cub who, lost and alone, meets Taka, heir to a royal lineage. This meeting marks the beginning of a journey for a group of displaced people in search of their destiny. Together, they will face challenges and have their bonds tested as they try to escape a deadly enemy.
The film combines live-action techniques with computer-generated imagery in a photorealistic manner and is directed by Barry Jenkins, produced by Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” opens exclusively in theaters on December 19.
