Fine of R$28.6 million had been transferred to the wrong account
The Federal Supreme Court (STF) confirmed that the fine of R$28.6 million paid by the social network X to resume operating in Brazil was transferred to a Banco do Brasil account. Elon Musk’s network should be released this week.
The measure was carried out after the amount was mistakenly deposited into a Caixa account. Once the payment is regularized, X’s request to unblock the platform will be sent for an opinion to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). Next, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case, will decide whether to allow the social network to operate.
The social network has been offline in Brazil since August 30, when the STF ordered the suspension of activities after Elon Musk’s company did not respond to the minister’s summons to appoint a representative in the country within 24 hours.
