YouGov survey highlights that 15.40% of respondents agree that all gambling should be illegal
YouGov published a survey on what Brazilians think about casinos and the legality of gambling.
When asked whether all gambling should be illegal, 30.29% of respondents did not agree but also did not disagree, 24.96% disagreed, 15.77% almost completely disagreed, 15.40% strongly agreed and 13.57% % almost completely agree.
Regarding casinos being depressing environments, 35.93% of respondents neither agree nor disagree, 20.91% completely agree, 14.74% almost totally agree, 14.70% totally disagree and 13.71% almost totally disagree.
In September, the Central Bank (BC) released a survey that showed that Brazilians spent around R$20 billion per month on online betting, between January and August 2024. According to the institution, approximately 24 million individuals made at least one transfer via Pix to online betting companies.
Recently the Federal Government released the list of bets that can operate in Brazil. The list includes companies that have at least filed a request for definitive authorization. Requests are still under analysis.
Also in September, Google announced that it will block advertisements from companies that do not have authorization from the Ministry of Finance. From October to December, only authorized websites that were already operating will be able to continue operating. Furthermore, Mude Wellness Media announced that it will ban any advertising or betting campaigns on its platforms.
