Social network has been offline since August 30th; X paid the R$28 million fine to the STF
Minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), Alexandre de Moraes authorized X to operate in Brazil again. The decision, taken on Tuesday afternoon (8), came after Elon Musk’s company communicated to the STF the payment of all fines imposed for non-compliance with court decisions.
Moraes wrote: “I decree the end of the suspension and authorize the immediate return of the activities of x Brasil internet ltda. in national territory and I order Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) to adopt the necessary measures to implement the measure, communicating this Supreme Cut, within 24 (twenty-four) hours”.
Earlier, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) had positioned itself in favor of reopening X for Brazilian users. The attorney general, Paulo Gonet, stated that they had no justification for preventing the reactivation of the social network in the country.
The social network has been offline in Brazil since August 30, when the STF ordered the suspension of activities after Elon Musk’s company did not respond to the minister’s summons to appoint a representative in the country within 24 hours.
Yesterday, minister Alexandre de Moraes had confirmed that the R$28.6 million fine paid by the social network X to resume operating in Brazil was transferred to a Banco do Brasil account.
