With the motto “Desengaveta. Recycling is building a Living Future”, the initiative is promoted on social media
Vivo began communicating the “Desengaveta. Recycling is building a Living Future” movement on social media, seeking to encourage the conscious disposal of electronics by consumers. Around 1,800 Vivo stores will have recycling points for products such as cell phones, headphones and chargers.
“Brazil is among the largest producers of electronic waste in the world and ranks second in the Americas, according to the UN report ‘Global E-Waste Monitor’. As a technology company, we have expanded our commitment to promoting circularity and are implementing new fronts of engagement with consumers and manufacturers”, says Joanes Ribas, sustainability director at Vivo.
The project is aimed at consumers, Vivo customers or not, and has already allocated more than 5.2 million items. All electronic waste collected is recycled by Ambipar, which uses high-tech equipment in the process.
