The Ministry of Health began a new mobilization campaign against arboviruses transmitted by the Aedes mosquito – dengue, Zika and chikungunya. Signed by Nacional Comunicação, the objective is to mobilize the Brazilian population to adopt the habit of eliminating mosquito outbreaks and do their part not just in times of outbreak, but throughout the year.
Aedes aegypti continues to be the main villain responsible for outbreaks of these diseases that, every year, affect public health in the country. With the different variations of viruses, the challenge in diagnosis and treatment becomes even greater. In addition to causing similar symptoms, dengue, Zika and chikungunya can lead to serious complications and, in some cases, even death.
Although many people already know how to prevent it, this is not always reflected in practical actions on a daily basis. Therefore, the campaign concept explores how simple and quick prevention is. In just 10 minutes a week, you can clean gutters, cover water tanks, empty bottles, in short, eliminate any object inside the house that accumulates stagnant water. Just 10 minutes in your routine can make a huge difference in eliminating mosquito outbreaks.
The campaign will be divided into two phases. The first focuses on prevention, with the motto “Do you have 10 minutes? The time to prevent it is now.” The second will provide guidance on recognizing disease symptoms, with the message “Do you have symptoms? The time to be aware of dengue, Zika and chikungunya is now.” With national reach, the campaign is present on TV, radio, internet, social networks and in outdoor media.
The Ministry of Health hopes that the initiative will inspire a change in the population’s behavior, making prevention and attention to symptoms part of our routine, helping to reduce the impacts of arboviruses on public health in Brazil.
