The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced the global debut of “The HEIST II,” which is now available on all @NBA social and digital platforms. The film celebrates the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup, which kicks off with the group stage on Tuesday, November 12, with a double-header, with the New York Knicks visiting the Philadelphia 76ers, followed by the Golden State Warriors hosting the Dallas Mavericks.
Once again set in Las Vegas, “The HEIST II” presents a new chapter of last season’s campaign. The film begins with defending NBA Cup champion Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers as he guards the team’s prized NBA Cup trophy. Still celebrating last season’s victory, Davis orders champagne for his penthouse suite, unaware of five other NBA All-Stars, Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyrese Haliburton ( Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics) and Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets) are plotting to steal the trophy from under his nose. Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Imperioli reprises his role as the operation’s mastermind, this time alongside award-winning actress Rosario Dawson.
Despite the players’ stealthy efforts, including decoys, disguises and theatrics such as swimming through the Bellagio fountain, crossing a laser field, climbing the building and passing through elevator shafts, Dawson and Imperioli remain two steps ahead of the NBA stars, snatching the trophy and forcing them to compete for it once again.
“Building on the energy of last year’s successful campaign, THE HEIST II continues the fun and exciting story of competing for a new championship for both NBA players and fans,” said Tammy Henault, Chief Marketing Officer of the NBA. “We hope the familiar story arc of a theatrical heist will resonate with a broad audience and further reinforce that the Emirates NBA Cup brings a new level of excitement to the start of the season.”
