The Union of Advertising Agencies of the State of Bahia (Sinapro-Bahia) will participate, next Tuesday (29), at 9 am, in the launching ceremony of the Memorial da Propaganda, the first space dedicated to the history of advertising in Bahia, located in the library from Unifacs, in Salvador. The initiative was created by Nelson Varon Cadena, journalist, publicist, writer and one of the greatest communication scholars in Brazil, and has the support of Sinapro-Bahia, ABAP Bahia, Central de Outdoor Bahia, Sepex Bahia and ABMP for its implementation.
The launch event will have a presentation by the researcher followed by a conversation with the participation of the president of Sinapro-Bahia, André Mascarenhas, and representatives of the partner entities in this project. The event is part of the national program of ComunicArte, a meeting that brings together students from different institutions of the Ânima Educação group in the country.
With a career dedicated to research on advertising, marketing and journalism, and author of several books and articles on the history of advertising, Cadena will donate his vast collection to form the Propaganda Memorial. Among the donated items are books on advertising, marketing, public relations, communication and related areas; magazines, dictionaries, catalogues, media and creation yearbooks, as well as MP4 films from all over Brazil, as well as photographic and DVD collections.
“This Memorial has inestimable value for the history of Bahian and Brazilian advertising, and with the curatorship and collection of Cadena, it is a reference. This space will be fundamental for research and knowledge, providing unique cultural and educational experiences. It will be important for the rescue and preservation of our memory and will help in the training of future generations”, highlights André Mascarenhas.
