The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) celebrates the success of its Children’s Day campaign in partnership with Ratinho do Rá-Tim-Bum Castleand launches the new clip of the most famous mouse in the country. During the month of October, the campaign raised funds for UNICEF projects aimed at providing girls and boys with access to water, sanitation and hygiene in schools and the most vulnerable communities in the Amazon and Brazilian semiarid.
The creative action, developed by the agency VML Brasil, recreated the nostalgic scene of Ratinho, in which he took his famous bath on the TV show. At the beginning of the campaign, launched on October 10th, the character opened the shower and the tap, but was faced with a lack of water, reflecting the harsh reality faced by children and adolescents in Brazil: 12 million still live without adequate access to sewerage. sanitation and 2.1 million without drinking water.
From then on, the public was called upon to help Mouse – and the children – by donating to UNICEF. With the support of influencers such as PodPah, Cinthya Rachel, Marcelo Tas, Lipe Volpato and many others, the campaign spread quickly on social media, mobilizing many people in support of the cause.
With the fundraising, the long-awaited moment happened: a new Ratinho music video was released this Tuesday. In it, the famous Mouse finally manages to take a shower, now with plenty of water, symbolizing the transformation that these donations will make possible for thousands of children in vulnerable situations.
The public participating in the campaign was fundamental in unlocking this phase of action, which does not stop there. UNICEF’s actions not only in the area of water and sanitation, but in education and health, for example, depend entirely on donations. For those who want to help, it’s simple and quick: just access the UNICEF website at the link Thanks to the resources being raised, UNICEF will be able to expand and intensify its activities in the area of water, sanitation and hygiene, reaching more girls and boys.
Lidia Carvalho, Head of Marketing at UNICEF in Brazil, highlights the importance of actions that mobilize people around a vital cause: “The biggest return from a campaign like this is to see society engaging in a cause that belongs to everyone” , he states.
“We are very happy to be able to release Ratinho’s new video. In addition to offering incredible content for those who grew up with it, we are seeing that more children will have access to clean water, which is the most important thing”, says Isaac Serruya, creative leader at VML Brasil, heading the project.
How UNICEF works
UNICEF operates in regions such as the semi-arid region and the Legal Amazon, focusing on strengthening public policies and water, sanitation and hygiene services. The Ratinho campaign helps finance these efforts, which aim to guarantee children and adolescents the human right to water and sanitation, as established by the UN in 2010.
