The burial of Antonio Augusto Amaral de Carvalho, known as “Seu Tuta”, founder and icon of Jovem Pan, will take place this Tuesday (5) at 11 am, at the Morumbi cemetery, in São Paulo. The wake, which began on Monday (4) at 10am, was reserved for family and close friends, in an intimate event that pays final tributes to an emblematic figure in Brazilian communication. Seu Tuta was admitted to the Sírio-Libanês hospital, where he was facing a series of health complications.
Seu Tuta, aged 93, revolutionized Brazilian radio by transforming the former Rádio Panamericana into Jovem Pan and left an indelible legacy on television, with creations such as the TV Record festivals, which boosted cultural movements such as Tropicália and Jovem Guarda. Known for the famous phrase “No one succeeds alone”, he has always valued teamwork, both on radio and TV, and was a pioneer in live sports broadcasts and in digital streaming with Jovem Pan Online.
Out of respect for his contribution to journalism and Brazilian culture, businesspeople, deputies and the president of the Senate expressed admiration and respect for Seu Tuta. The mayor of São Paulo and the state governor declared three days of official mourning. Antonio Augusto Amaral de Carvalho leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a vast legion of admirers, consolidating his legacy in the history of communication in Brazil.
