The event aimed to encourage governments, media and companies to act on behalf of refugee and migrant women.
The Executive President of APRO, Marianna Souza, participated in the event “Integrate and Empower: for rights and opportunities for refugee and migrant women in Brazil”, held by UN Women on International Women’s Day, celebrated this Tuesday (8).
The event aimed to encourage governments, companies and the media to act towards the economic empowerment and social inclusion of refugee and migrant women.
“It was a privilege to be part of this event, both to show the position in which the advertising market is in the women’s agenda, but also to understand the refugee women’s agenda and how much we still have to advance in the most diverse under-represented groups” , said Marianna.
The executive was present and participated in the panel “Eliminating discriminatory stereotypes based on gender and race: the experiences of the media and advertising industry” to talk about representativeness in advertising.
“As someone who is at the forefront of APRO and Free The Work in Brazil, I can say that we are constantly looking for a fairer and more egalitarian market, and being part of this event, in addition to APRO’s recent partnership with Aliança Sem Estereotipos, increasingly essential for the change we seek to materialize. Not only in speeches but in practical actions”, highlighted the executive.
