Bill 2338/2023 is being processed in the Federal Senate
Apro+Som (Brazilian Association of Sound Producers) came out in defense of bill 2338/2023, which aims to regulate the use of artificial intelligence technologies in Brazil.
As an example, the association cites a UNESCO report that defends the need for a regulatory framework for AI, arguing that the technology, without adequate control, threatens essential areas such as journalism, for example.
Bia Ambrogi, president of Apro+Som, said that AI regulation is as necessary as it was in the initial era of the internet, which went from ‘no man’s land’ to an environment with rules tailored to new demands.
“Creation is the result of a human achievement. Machines gather information, cross-reference data, compile, but do not create. It is necessary to establish limits and ensure that the use of technology does not subvert the rights of professionals and the sustainability of cultural sectors”, he said .
Apro+Som, together with several cultural and legal entities, sent a letter to the Senate to press for the approval of the PL replacement on artificial intelligence. The document defends copyright protection against unauthorized use in generative AI systems, following international frameworks such as the European AI Act.
The letter reinforces the regulatory framework for transparency in the use of works and limitations for non-commercial entities, aiming to protect the interests of creators of artistic, intellectual and journalistic content in the development, training and offering of artificial intelligence systems, to guarantee the integrity of their productions.
