Vale, in partnership with the agency Africa Creative, launches a series of content that reveals authentic stories from the Amazon. Presented by Pará-born singer Gaby Amarantos and photographer Bob Wolfenson, the project highlights characters from the forest involved in initiatives in favor of forest preservation and bioeconomy.
“The experience of going on this expedition in the heart of the Amazon was overwhelming, an almost mystical experience being in front of nature, which is so powerful, and meeting people who work to ensure that the forest remains standing, exists and perpetuates itself for centuries”, highlights Bob Wolfenson.
With a focus on expanding the dialogue on sustainability and valuing Amazonian culture, the project is part of Vale’s strategy to strengthen its presence at COP 30, which will be held in Belém (PA), in November 2025. The action also reflects on communication its social role, continuing the institutional campaigns launched since December last year, which explain the importance of minerals in people’s daily lives — whether at the end of the year festivities, in everyday life, in sports or in music.
Vale has been operating in the Amazon region for almost 40 years and helps preserve around 1 million hectares of forests in the world, 800 thousand of which are in the Amazon biome alone – an area six times larger than the city of Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). The company is also the biggest supporter of Culture in Brazil, through the Culture Incentive Law, for the 4th consecutive year, with emphasis on Pará and the other states where it operates.
“Companies in any sector today need a social license to operate and, for this, it is essential to create connections and proximity with people. In the midst of the transformation journey that Vale is undertaking to be more open, close and transparent, this project is a natural movement within our communication strategy. It expands our proximity and our dialogue with society,” says Leandro Modé, Vale’s Communications director.
Collab on social media
The action has already started with a collab post on Vale’s and ambassadors’ social networks, in which each episode featured a character from projects that Vale supports. The complete journey will result in a mini-documentary, available on streaming platforms and on Vale’s channel. Follow here.
“Technology is a word that represents the Amazon for me because when we think about the forest, we still have a stereotypical view, we think it’s just the tree, the animal, the forest, but the Amazon is technological, expansive, urban, there are several Amazons within one. So, understanding that this Amazon is futuristic, that it is far ahead, it has all the answers. Because by falling in love with this forest, we will fight for it and preserve it”, Gaby Amarantos.
“This project exemplifies how we can unite art, local culture and environmental awareness in an authentic and transformative way. Gaby, one of the biggest names in Belém, takes Bob Wolfenson, one of the biggest names in photography, to the heart of the Amazon, where they find inspiring stories of the people who are part of this ecosystem, with the support of Vale. With this, we show our work of more than 40 years in the region, through the standing forest”, concludes Verônica Gordilho, co-COO of Africa Creative.
