Expo Favela Innovation Brasil, an entrepreneurship fair that connects favela entrepreneurs with asphalt investors, is organized by Favela Holding, promoted by Central Única das Favelas (CUFA) and produced by InFavela. The event will bring together more than 200 entrepreneurs from favelas from all over Brazil. After a remarkable edition in 2023, with regional stages held in 20 states and a turnover of more than R$122 million in business. The event in 2024 grew even further, holding its first international edition in Paris, France. This year’s regional editions brought together around 200,000 people across Brazil.
The 2023 grand final, held at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, was attended by 46 thousand people and named the top 10 favela entrepreneurs in Brazil. The edition was also highlighted by the production of a reality show, broadcast by TV Globo, on the program É de Casa. The highlight of the program was Mazodan, in Amapá, created by businessman Michael Carvalho, which uses river sediments to reduce environmental impact and lower construction costs. The company was selected among the 10 best in the country and won a prize of R$80,000.
For the grand national final of Expo Favela Innovation 2024, which takes place from December 6th to 8th, again at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, the event is expected to reach a record audience of 60 thousand people and a significant economic movement of 40 millions of reais. The edition promises to be an even greater showcase for the creative and innovative power of the favelas and will feature the new season of the reality show on TV Globo, highlighting the new Top 10 Brazil.
“I always say that holding Expo Favela is a dream. We reach all states in Brazil and cross borders with our edition in France. For the national stage in 2024, we will count on even more innovations from all the favelas in Brazil and, once again, prove the economic strength that favela residents and entrepreneurs generate in our country. Expo Favela Innovation Brasil is more than an event, it is a movement that connects ideas, transforms lives and projects favelas to the world”, says Celso Athayde, creator of the event and CEO of Favela Holding.
