This Monday, March 14th, Riot Games officially announced that the matches of the playoff phase of CBLOL, the biggest League of Legends competition in Brazil, will be played in person. Riot is the developer of LOL and organizer of the game’s official sporting events.
The matches will take place at Arena CBLOL, a new studio made to host the games of the event located in São Paulo, in Barra Funda. Playoff dates have also been announced: they will be played between March 25th and April 23rd. Matches will be made daily in best-of-5 series, the so-called MD5.

According to Carlos Antunes, esports leader at Riot Games in Brazil:
“We are very happy to be able to start our return to the face-to-face format. Nothing replaces the presence of players on stage to convey the emotions of each match, and being able to offer that again in this decisive moment of CBLOL marks a reunion between players, casters and fans that since 2020 we dream of happening again”.
Riot Games also made a point of informing that the protocols to prevent the spread of COVID 19 will not be left aside during the matches. In addition to the sterilization of all equipment used by the teams, players and employees will also be tested, with the mandatory use of masks.
The company may also be planning to return with in-person matches from other tournaments it organizes in addition to CBLOL. Riot is also a developer of other successful games, such as Valorant, which has its own official competition, Challengers Brasil.
