Conclave and Wicked lead the Critics Choice Awards film nominations

Last week, Critics Choice announced its nominees for the best of the year among TV series (see here). Now it’s the turn of the film nominees. Conclave e Wicked had the highest number of nominations, with 11 each. But there were also some surprises, such as the absence of Nicole Kidman and Fernanda Torres. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on TNT and Max on January 12th, starting at 9 pm. The event will take place at Barker Hangar, in Santa Monica, and will have Chelsea Handler as presenter. What did I find?

I was really surprised by Nicole’s absence (and Sebastian Stan too). In the case of Fernanda Torres, it was more or less expected. After all, when you reduce the number of nominees from 12 (Golden Globes) to 6 (Critics Choice) the probability of her not being included was high (so my fans are completely behind Demi Moore).

Some names that were snubbed at the Golden Globes have made it onto the Critics list. This is the case of the director of Wicked, John M. Chu, Danielle Deawyler (Family Piano) e Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths). This only makes predictions for the Oscars more difficult (this will only get easier when the SAG nominations come out on 1/8).
