In recent months, a number of rumors have been floating around about the casting of Miles Morales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the MCU. The most recent information has pointed out Jaden Smith, star of films like the remake of Karete Kid, as the possible choice to live the version of Spider-Man in live action.
Rumors about Jaden Smith in the role didn’t gain so much traction out of nowhere. First, the insider @MyTimeToShineHello posted on their social media that Marvel would have talked to Smith about a role. After that, the actor and rapper posted on his social networks a photo in which he wore a Spider-Man mask, check it out:
The actor’s own father, Will Smith, hinted at Jaden’s likely casting in the role, according to him:
“My son is preparing himself physically and mentally to get a place as one of the characters who will make history for the first time in the saga of a movie that many already know and ask for.”
It is worth remembering that Marvel has already hinted at the existence of Miles Morales in their shared universe. In Homecoming, Donald Glover plays the villain Thief, who in the comics is Miles’ uncle and responsible for the hero gaining his powers. In addition, No Return Home opened the possibility of crossovers between different versions of the webhead.
Still, Marvel has not released any official note on the matter. For confirmation of Jaden Smtih in the role, fans will have to wait a little longer until the actor or the studio officially pronounces.
