The performance of one of Samsung’s latest releases left something to be desired in some respects. Some videos showed the brand’s Galaxy S22 limiting its own performance in some functions. Due to the disappointment that the device may have generated in some users, the company’s CEO, Jong-Hee Han, publicly apologized.
The executive’s statements were made at an event that takes place every year and brings together the brand’s main shareholders. According to Jong-Hee, Samsung failed to meet consumers’ expectations and concerns regarding the performance of devices sold by the brand.
According to Han, the mechanism called GOS (Game Optimization System, in English) was intended to improve the cell phone’s performance in some functions, however the result was exactly the opposite of what was planned. According to consumer reviews and ratings, more than a thousand devices have had their performance affected as far as is known.
Still, the CEO denied any rumors about the developed system being a cost-cutting measure by Samsung. The brand had previously said that the main objective in creating the GOS is to optimize battery saving and prevent the devices from overheating.
So that consumers do not suffer from the problems generated by the GOS, Samsung even released an update that allows the system to be disabled on the device. Still, some critics point out that the brand still does not allow the application to be completely uninstalled from smartphones.
The discussion about the lower-than-expected performance of the Galaxy S22 line goes even further in South Korea, the company’s home country. The South Korean police opened an investigation to see if Samsung promised a product that was not delivered in relation to the performance of its devices. More information on the case is expected to come out soon.
