Holidays are a special time for families and loved ones to meet, and in 2020, quarantines made these meetings impossible, causing thousands of families to be far away and to connect only virtually. Therefore, Mercado Livre decided to help.
So to bring some of these families together, and allow them to spend Christmas together again, the Free market created the campaign “At these parties, the best is coming”, with the objective of promoting the reunion of 1500 people with their loved ones, breaking distances and uniting all corners of Latin America.
Mercado Livre, a leader in technology for e-commerce and financial services in Latin America, has always had the mission of connecting sellers to buyers, SMEs to consumers, providers with customers and work teams to democratize e-commerce and finance across the country. Latin America.
“At Mercado Livre, we believe that year-end parties are much more than exchanging gifts: they are shared moments. Therefore, we took on the challenge of finding real stories of people separated by the pandemic and taking action: being facilitators of meetings and bringing families together so that they can celebrate the parties together again”, comments Sean Summers, CMO of Mercado Livre.
In the new Free Market campaign “At these parties, the best is coming”, the company helped 60 families from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile and Uruguay to get together during the holidays at the end of the year. Family members were transported to different parts of the continent to celebrate the end of the year festivities with their loved ones. These are real stories and full of joy, through which the Mercado Livre manifests itself in favor of family meetings being the center of celebrations.
“Last Christmas was full of emotions for me because it was the first time I spent the end of the year parties away from my family, besides being in Mexico for a short time, a new country and a new culture”, commented Bruna Souza, one of the Brazilians who will be able to celebrate this end of the year again in Brazil.
Bruna arrived in Mexico at the end of 2019, leaving her family in the country. It was the first time she was so far away from them and, during this time, she missed the marriage of her twin sister, whom she misses the most. “It’s going to make Christmas this year very exciting, because we’ll have a lot of stories to share. And we will be able to gather, once again, our whole family in my sister’s house”, he adds.
Matheus Brum, another Brazilian who returned to the country, commented: “the end-of-year parties are the moment when I miss my family the most, because we used to party a lot”.
Matheus is from Rio, but has lived in Uruguay for 4 years. Due to the pandemic, he was unable to return to visit his son, mother and the entire family. The last parties were celebrated by video call and he misses spending them with all of them physically, especially with his son.
As part of this action, Mercado Livre returns to its original logo as a way to invite people to reconnect and value emotional bonds.
