The partnership between Disney and Facebook to broadcast Libertadores games remains firm and strong. The two companies renewed the contract for the broadcasting rights of the South American champion with the endorsement of Conmebol. The two multinationals will exchange the games they have available to increase their reach with the biggest football tournament on the continent.
The information comes from the TV News website. The information that circulates indicates that an average of 7 games of national teams will be exchanged between the companies. Matches are to be shown both on channels and on streaming services. Among the vehicles that the broadcasts will be made are the social network itself, ESPN and Star+, a Disney streaming company that has a greater focus on sports.
It is worth mentioning that the games that will be shared are not limited to the group stage only. When Libertadores reaches the knockout stage, the partnership will continue. Still, it’s worth mentioning that Facebook only has broadcast rights until the quarterfinals, unlike Disney, whose contract is longer as far as we know. However, the social network has already announced that it will not renew the subscription after the end, later this year.
The main point of the agreement, as already mentioned, is to increase the number of broadcasts of the competition in Brazil. Disney so far is the largest holder of the rights. In 2022, the conglomerate will broadcast 80 games on different platforms. Facebook, with the agreement, manages to increase its number from 9 to 18 broadcast matches. The contract and partnership between the companies does not affect other rights holders, such as SBT.
