Run! is considered the best screenplay of the century

Written and directed by Jordan Peele, Run! was released in 2018 and won the Oscar for best original screenplay. Today, December 7th, the film was considered the best screenplay of the 21st century so far. The honor was made by the Syndicate of Writers of America (Writer’s Guild of America).

In Run!, a young black man played by Daniel Kaluya meets the family of his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams). Expecting an ordinary family reunion, the boy finds himself faced with a disturbing mystery behind his hosts, which could be putting his life in danger.

The tribute was made from a list of the 101 best scripts of the last 21 years, from the beginning of the century until now. Among those chosen as the best scripts of the century, in addition to Run, there are also films such as the Brazilian Cidade de Deus, released in 2002.

According to Aaron Mendelsohn, chairman of the union’s Advertising and Marketing Committee:

“As voted on by Union members, the list of the top 101 screenplays of the 21st century (so far) is a celebration of the great writers and screenplays of the past 21 years and a study of how screenwriting has evolved and diversified since the 20th century.. “

In Run!, Jordan Peele uses terror as a background to work relevant and current themes, especially racism. In addition to the quiet Oscar winner, Peele has also directed another horror film: Us. The director also has plans to release another production soon, titled Nope, slated for release in 2022.
