Razer, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, celebrates the achievement of one million trees protected, a milestone established as part of a sustainability campaign carried out in partnership with the NGO Conservation International. To celebrate the feat, Razer announces the launch of the long-awaited Sneki Snek mascot sweatshirt and reveals an even more ambitious goal, that of saving ten million trees.
The partnership between Razer and Conservation International is part of #GoGreenWithRazer, a ten-year sustainability plan developed by the company with the aim of preserving nature and protecting the environment. Together with the Razer user community, the organizations are helping to conserve around 1600 hectares of forest, which corresponds to approximately 3,000 football fields.
The campaign has been driven by the success of Razer’s sustainability mascot, the Sneki Snek, which has mobilized the brand’s fans in support of tree conservation. The character, which was created from a sketch made by one of Razer’s designers, has already gone viral in countless memes, turned into real tattoos and even gained a fanpage created by the community. For every Sneki Snek product sold, Razer donates a portion of the proceeds to support Conservation International’s work to protect forests across the planet.
Addie Tan, Associate Director of Business Development at Razer, spoke a little about the project:
“We could not have achieved this incredible result without the support of our passionate community. In fact, our initial goal was to save 100,000 trees, but together with Razer fans we reached that goal in a matter of weeks and then realized that together we could accomplish so much more. Now that we’ve helped save a million trees, we’re excited for what’s to come and getting ready for the next challenge: saving ten times as much.”
Faced with the new challenge, Razer will continue the tradition of celebrating important milestones with the launch of exclusive Sneki Snek products, which will arrive for fans with every 250,000 new trees saved. With part of the profits going to Conservation International, the envisaged environmental impact of the new phase of the campaign must represent the conservation of more than 16,000 hectares of forest and the preservation of several endangered species that depend on this ecosystem for survival.
According to Sarah Cragg, Director of Marketing and Partnerships for the Asia-Pacific region at Conservation International:
“Protecting nature is one of the most important things we can do to address climate change and support biodiversity. Razer’s effort is helping to raise awareness of the challenges facing our planet and gives people an opportunity to take action. We are deeply grateful for the community engagement and excited to take this challenge to the next level.”
As part of the #GoGreenWithRazer campaign initiatives, more than empowering the community, Razer seeks to provide a way for fans to make a difference and contribute to green causes, in addition to spreading knowledge. Last year, Razer released a series of Sneki Snek cartoons precisely with the aim of teaching the community about the environmental challenges that threaten our planet and what can be done to help. The first episode was about Deforestation and highlighted the importance of preserving the habitat of so many species of animals.
