The BIC Group, through the BIC Corporate Foundation, will support the 6th edition of theIdeas World Cup, the biggest brainstorming event in the world. The event will feature representatives from different countries, who will put their minds to work around a social issue, using all their creativity and sense of innovation.
The start of the competition is scheduled for April 21, known worldwide as Creativity and Innovation Day, and this year’s theme, selected by the BIC Foundation, is “How to inspire creativity in education”. The main challenge for those enrolled will be to present alternatives to transform creativity into a competence to be developed and cultivated within the global educational system, after all, it is a powerful tool that can help solve various problems in today’s society. To help inspire the audience, five sub-themes were proposed:creative cultures, environmental protection, future of learning, building a network, and equity, diversity and inclusion.
Alison James, Executive Director of the BIC Foundation, believes that creativity is the key to achieving a better future. “Our goal with this year’s theme is to celebrate the development of the creative mind and inspire a movement around creativity in education, for people of all ages and backgrounds,” explains James. In addition to being a universal need with the potential for global impact, creativity in education is a very important pillar of social progress.
To participate, simply register on the promotion’s official website. Ideas can be submitted for evaluation from April 21 to May 9. Then, the committee responsible for selecting the best suggestions will ask 30 specific questions, for the creators to refine the concept of their initial proposals. Starting on May 20, online voting will begin with the finalist projects and, finally, the big winners will be decorated during the closing ceremony, scheduled for May 27. Information about the event’s schedule is available on the Cup’s official website.

The World Cup of Ideas is a non-profit tournament, founded by Juan Prego in 2014, that annually awards projects with the potential for global implementation. With BIC’s support at this year’s event, the winner will also have access to mentorships from the BIC Corporate Foundation’s Corporate Community of Practice, an alliance of educators, researchers, foundations, artists and NGOs, to help maximize the impact of their initiative.
For Juan, the World Cup of Ideas is a true celebration of human creativity. Prego further concluded:
“We connect people all over the world and harness their inner creative power, proving that if we put our heads, hearts and hands together, we can solve some of the toughest global problems we face and make the world a better place.”
Since its inception, the event has attracted more than 100,000 participants from 72 cities in 15 countries and generated more than 34,000 ideas. In 2021, the main theme addressed how society could mitigate the social and economic impact caused by COVID-19.
