Elon Musk, the billionaire and largest shareholder of the Twitterannounced its refusal to be invited to join the social network’s board, after having bought 9.2% of its shares.
The announcement was made by Twitter CEO Parag Agrawai in the early hours of Monday (11). The offer made to Musk took place on Tuesday (5), and created great expectations for the market.
“I believe this is for the best. We have and always value the contribution of our shareholders, whether or not they are on our board. Elon is our largest shareholder and we will remain open to contributions from him,” Parag Agrawai said.
Elon Musk exerts great influence on Twitter, accumulating more than 80 million followers on his profile. As he is a big user of the network, Musk ended up releasing some ideas for changes to the platform, such as the option to edit tweets, which is already being evaluated as an update soon.
