Balance sheet shows growth of 0.7% compared to the previous year
The Brazilian audiovisual production park went through 2021 in brigadeiro sky, despite the problems faced by the sector such as Covid-19 restrictions, lower prices and elastic payment terms for work carried out.
There were 38,538 titles of commercial films registered with Ancine (National Film Agency) as reported by Apro (Association of Producers of Audiovisual Works) and its international branch FilmBrazil. A growth of 0.7% compared to 2020 (38,281 thousand titles).
In the ranking by states, São Paulo maintained the 1st place with 32%, the same as in 2020, followed by Paraná (11%), Santa Catarina (9%), Minas Gerais (7%) and Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro ( 6%). 54 producers associated with Apro and 22 representatives of the agencies participated in the survey.
Marianna Souza, executive president of Apro, says that the sector learned from the year 2020 and believes that the best in the scenario is a reflection of vaccination against Covid-19.
“We looked for more efficient ways to mitigate the risks and bottlenecks of two years ago and the research once again helped us to draw a real picture of what 2021 was like for our production companies, as well as understand the advertising market’s view of the initiatives led by Apro”, explains the executive.
International
Productions for other countries also contributed to the performance. A total of 643 projects were budgeted for the foreign market, of which 54% were actually produced.

And among the main production service destinations, Ancine shows that, in 2021, Rio de Janeiro was ahead with 50%, followed by São Paulo and Salvador, both with 25%”, informs Apro.
