One of the novelties, WhatsApp Comunidades will only arrive in Brazil next year
WhatsApp has announced a series of changes to the application, which will gradually come into effect in the coming weeks around the world, including Brazil. As with Facebook today, users of the messaging application will be able to react to a conversation using emojis.
Another novelty, shared files can be up to 2 GB, including images, documents, videos and/or photos. In addition, the application will allow group calls with up to 32 people – the limit, until then, is eight participants.
Meta’s idea is that these changes help to ‘prepare the ground’ for WhatsApp Communities, a feature that will bring together different groups under the same umbrella.
In Brazil, however, this feature should only take effect from next year, as the app has committed to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) that it would not implement any changes considered significant before the elections.
The company also announced that administrators will have roles aimed at keeping groups organized. With this, in addition to managing, only admins will be able to send warnings to all community groups, as well as delete messages that violate WhatsApp terms or that are offensive.
