The first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder has been officially released by Marvel. The film is the fourth in the franchise and will be directed by Taika Waititi. The Oscar-winning filmmaker for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2020, for Jojo Rabbit, was the same one who directed the previous film, Ragnarok.
The main news that the teaser reveals is one of the things fans have been waiting for the most: Jane Foster’s Thor. Natalie Portman returns to play the protagonist’s former romantic partner, but this time with the news that she will also wield the classic hammer and become a heroine.
The concept of Jane Foster donning the heroine mantle is relatively recent in comics. The character becomes Thor after Odin’s son becomes unworthy. This is not the only element of this phase of the stories that will be carried over to the film, as the villain will also be a relatively recent character from the comics. Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods first appeared in 2013 and will be played by Christian Bale in the film.
Still, we don’t know for sure the details about the movie’s plot, and the teaser didn’t give many clues either. Still, fans could have confirmation that Guardians of the Galaxy will have a role in the film. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor left Earth accompanied by the group of heroes.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to premiere on July 7, 2022 in Brazilian cinemas.
