Fazenda Futuro, the first foodtech in Latin America focused on the production of plant-based meat with nothing of animal origin, has just partnered with Climate Partner, a leading provider of corporate climate action solutions, to announce that the production of the Future Burger, the brand’s flagship product, has become carbon neutral. The entirety of CO2e emissions in the creation of the burger are now transformed into an environmental protection project in the Amazon, which has the amount of carbon equivalent to what the brand needs to offset the sales of the product globally.
According to foodtech, the goal, still in 2022, is a 10% reduction in the carbon footprint in the production of Futuro Burger worldwide, for this, Fazenda Futuro – initially – will focus on inputs and packaging: “we know that the impact of our global distribution is significant and, therefore, we will seek to further boost sustainability also in our transport chain going forward”, says Marcos Leta, CEO and Founder of Fazenda Futuro.
In addition, Fazenda Futuro is still working on metrics to launch the 2022 ESG report, with next steps to calculate the carbon footprint of all operations to understand where there is the biggest gap that still needs to be adjusted. Apart from that, in 2021, the company also commissioned a study with the Blend Group that reveals, through several numbers, how the consumption of its products by flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans in recent years has been beneficial to the environment: for each person who consumes a tray of Futuro Burger once a week for a year, for example, avoids the emission of around 1.57 tons of CO2.
