Google launched this Monday (2), in the week marked by the Labor Day, three new professional courses with certificate on the Coursera platform. In addition to the certification course in IT supportwill be available, with subtitles in Portuguese, professional training in Data Analysis, Project Management and UX Design. All course options do not require previous specific knowledge and are aimed at those looking to enter the job market, change professional areas or advance in their careers.
The proposal is to contribute to the reduction of unemployment, which today affects 12 million Brazilians, a reality aggravated by the economic impacts resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
Google Professional Certifications are part of the Grow with Google program, a project that brings together products, platforms and services to help people and businesses develop in the professional market. The central idea is to provide practical and technical digital skills to help people and businesses to develop, including socioeconomically.
“When people learn to make the most of the web, it’s amazing how individuals, companies and entire economies can grow. We want everyone to have the digital skills necessary to benefit from the technological revolution and share in this growth, contributing to the country’s economic recovery, something of paramount importance at this time”, said Susana Ayarza, Google’s Marketing Director in Brazil.
The courses will be 100% online, with a flexible schedule and duration depending on the student’s availability, with 200 hours or more. The course costs US＄ 14 per month (approximately R＄ 75, depending on the price), following the pricing policy of the Coursera platform. There is also the option to pay for three months at 33% off (US＄28), or for six months at 50% off (US＄42).
Qualifications and certificates
The courses are built to meet the immediate demand of job seekers in high-demand areas of the technology market. Objective and dynamic, the training seeks to prepare participants for the immediate start in job market entry vacancies that require the skills studied. Plus, the new courses are professionally oriented, created by Google experts, and make curricula even more competitive.
the course of Suporte de TI It has been offered by the platform, in Portuguese, since 2019. In it, participants are trained to offer support in the area of technology, either remotely or in person. Training includes an innovative curriculum designed specifically to prepare participants for entry-level roles.
Through a mix of video lectures, quizzes, labs and hands-on widgets, the program will introduce you to troubleshooting and customer service, networking, operating systems, systems administration and security. The content of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate is under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
With the certificate, participants have the potential to be hired in companies throughout Brazil. This is the case of Regiane Costa, from Contagem-MG. With initial training as a nursing technician, she dedicated herself to the IT Support course offered by Google on Coursera, in which she obtained certification in 2021. Soon after, she got her first job in the area and currently her intention is to invest even more in their professional training and help other women to enter the technology market.
“The number of women in the area is much smaller, compared to men. And our salaries — for performing the same functions — are lower. I want to give voice to these women and fight for gender equality”, says Regiane.

The new courses follow a similar pattern in relation to the activities distributed throughout each training, always adapted to what is most effective for the different objectives and topics covered.

And those enrolled in UX Design will study the interaction of users in websites, applications and with physical objects, to make these experiences more useful, pleasant and accessible, another growing demand in companies of different branches.
